Husker defensive backs coach Evan Cooper resigns, ESPN reports

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska defensive backs coach Evan Cooper has resigned, Pete Thamel of ESPN reported Friday evening.

Cooper also served as the Huskers’ passing game coordinator and was a staple in the recruiting process.

He has worked with head coach Matt Rhule for years, as he spent three seasons at Carolina as the cornerbacks coach and the director of player evaluation.

Prior to that, Cooper was cornerbacks coach and recruiting coordinator at Baylor for three seasons with Rhule.

Cooper was also Baylor’s director of player personnel in 2017.

This is the second time Rhule will have to replace an assistant coach, as tight end coach Bob Wager resigned last summer after a DUI arrest.

This is a developing story. Check back with Channel 8 for more updates.
