Dandy, dry week ahead with weekend heat wave

Another familiar scene played out on Saturday, with tornado-producing storms and large hail. The National Weather Service of Hastings confirmed four more tornadoes with their tracks still to be finalized as of Monday morning.

After confirmation from working with five weather service offices across the state, the approximate total tornado count for Nebraska is now up to 92. That includes 5 EF-3 tornadoes this severe season.

Switching gears from talk of tornadoes to hurricanes… Hurricane Beryl made landfall near Matagorda, Texas, early Monday morning. So we’re expecting to see quiet weather in Nebraska for a change with a lot of energy being pulled in that direction and high pressure building for us.

In fact, most of this week features a lot of sunshine with little to no chances for precipitation. We may finally be trending down in terms of severe weather this season – at least this week is looking dandy.

Week Ahead

Across the state, temperatures in the 80s will be fairly common by the afternoon timeframe.

Winds will be fairly light statewide too, with relatively low humidity as well.

We’ll continue to slightly warm throughout the upcoming week with a bit of a heat wave by this weekend (almost nearing the triple digits once more).
