Beatrice Humane Society: Puppies left in dumpster have opened their eyes

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Beatrice Humane Society gave an update Thursday on the puppies that were abandoned in a dumpster last month.

The four surviving pups have opened their eyes, which typically happens about 10 to 14 days after they are born.

“While these babies are seeing the world for the very first time, we know what they are seeing is looking better each day!” the shelter said in a Facebook post.

On April 21, 10 puppies were “left for dead” in a dog food bag at an apartment complex in another state.

Four of the dogs died by the time they were found.  Two more died before they arrived at the Beatrice Humane Society last Friday.

The remaining dogs were reunited with their mother and are enjoying “the good life” in Nebraska, the shelter said.

The shelter is asking for donations to help care for the puppies.  You can donate HERE or by visiting the Give to Lincoln Day website.
