Athlete of the Week: Norris High School’s Kale Fountain

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Norris High School senior Kale Fountain is having another record-breaking season.

As a junior, the Louisiana State University commit set the Class B record for homeruns in a season and career.

This season, Fountain continued etching his name into history by setting the record for career stolen bases, saves and runs batted in for Class B.

He said his hard work in the offseason has really paid off.

“There is no reason to have nerves when you prepare well,” Fountain said. “It’s also my senior year, I just want to leave it all out there.”

Off the field, Fountain said his leadership has grown the most.

“There’s so many different kids that come through our program that have different roles, and they teach me so much,” he said. “I learned so much from them and their personalities.”
Head coach Sean Bartholomew praised Fountain as a great addition to the program over the last four years.
“He’s been awesome, he’s super competitive, fantastic human being, and he’s one of the best teammates we’ve had at Norris,” Bartholomew said.
After a second place finish in last season’s state tournament, the Titans are hungry for a state title.
Fountain said this team is a close group.
“Bart’s done such a good job. He’s our core; he’s our glue with the meetings in the offseason, explaining our culture, what we’re striving for,” Fountain said.
Norris defeated Lincoln Northwest in the first round of the state baseball tournament on Saturday.
Fountain went one for two with three RBI, one walk and two runs in a 13-2 5 inning win over the Falcons.
The Titans will continue their journey to a state title when they face off with Waverly in the second round on May 13.
