2nd Conference «New Advances in the Political Economy of Development in Eurasia»

June 6-8, 2024, Almaty, Kazakhstan

KIMEP University and Almaty Management University, in association with the Harriman Institute at Columbia University and LMU Munich, are pleased to announce the 2nd Conference «New Advances in the Political Economy of Development in Eurasia» that will be organized as an in-person conference by KIMEP University and Almaty Management University, from June 6th to June 8th, 2024.

This conference is going to be one of the most authoritative worldwide academic conventions of active scholars studying Eurasian politics in a local and global context. Keynote speakers and contributors represent some of the most prestigious universities, including Stanford, Harvard, Oxford, University College of London, Freie Universitaet Berlin, and many others. Presenters apply up-to-date theoretical approaches and quantitative data analysis techniques to address a wide spectrum of issues in contemporary Eurasian politics and policies, including military conflicts, sanctions, elections, media, multi-ethnic relations, and technological developments.

Topics covered by the participants include:

  •       Comparative studies of governance
  •       Social capital, trust, and cultural norms
  •       Economic development and international sanctions
  •       Political elites and economic performance
  •       Internet, propaganda and persuasion
  •       Electoral processes and outcomes

On June 6 and 8, the conference is going to be held at AlmaU, 227 Rozybakiyeva Street, Almaty. On June 7, conference venue is KIMEP, 2 Abai Avenue.
