Bill Randby

Chief Meteorologist

Bill Randby's first weather memory was the Chicago Blizzard of 1967. He remembers his hometown, buried under 23 inches of snow. Bill has been amazed by the power of the weather ever since.

Bill's intense interest in forecasting took him to Minnesota, then on to Florida where he forecast everything from tornadoes to hurricanes. Bill says Omaha weather is a meteorologist's dream. From ice storms to twisters, Bill calmly keeps viewers alert to Omaha's ever-changing weather.

Forecasting the weather is one of the most important things the Weather Now Storm Team does at NewsWatch 7, and Bill has all the latest equipment to do it right. KETV’s Dual-Pol Super Doppler Radar gives viewers a 3-minute advantage during severe weather. The Weather Now Storm Team uses it to pinpoint severe weather conditions down to your street. It accurately detects everything from hail to tornado debris. In the end, it's Bill Randby's skill using these tools that allows him to provide you with an accurate hourly forecast.

Bill has a degree in meteorology from Florida State University, but during football season he's an avid Husker fan. Bill is a long-time member of the American Meteorological Society. He earned his AMS Seal of Approval in 1985.

When he's not looking at the sky, Bill is with his family. He and his wife, and co-worker, Julie Cornell have a son and twin daughters.
