Melissa Fry

Born and raised in Omaha, Melissa Fry is happy that KETV has given her the opportunity to come back home. “I’m very passionate about this community, I am honored to deliver the news and share your stories,” she says. Melissa attended Millard South High School, where she swam her way into a scholarship to Illinois State University. “I had fun at Illinois State,” Melissa says “but I also realized that there was no place like Nebraska.” Melissa transferred back to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated as a Husker. “My interest for journalism started when I was young,” she says. “It quickly developed into a passion when I began interning at KETV during my junior year of college.” Just before graduation, she accepted a job at KLKN, the ABC affiliate in Lincoln, where she was a reporter and anchor for two-and-a-half years. Melissa joined KETV NewsWatch 7 in 2008 as a reporter, and she now anchors First News weekdays. Melissa says she has had the honor of covering many good stories in her hometown. The best story, however, became personal when she interviewed an official with the Omaha Fire Department. "Little did I know...we would fall in love...and two years later he asked me the question 'will you marry me?' " Melissa says. Melissa and her husband Dan have three sons Michael, Charlie and Ben.
