Bill Schammert

Anchor

KETV welcomed Bill Schammert to Omaha in July 2022. A Nebraska native, Bill anchors the 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. newscasts. When he’s not on the anchor desk, you can find him working on special reports and sharing the heartwarming stories of people making a difference across Nebraska and Iowa.

Bill comes to KETV after spending five-plus years as the evening anchor at CBS in Lincoln. He also has previous stops in Oklahoma City and Fargo. He's won several Associated Press and Nebraska Broadcasters Association awards for his storytelling, and is a four-time Emmy Award winning journalist.

As a wide-eyed third grader growing up in Lincoln, Bill's interest in journalism started with early wake-up calls to watch the 6 a.m. SportsCenter. Although his love for sports has never faded (Go Big Red!), after graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, he developed a passion for news.

Bill and Kym have two boys, Theo and Cameron. After a life-saving call with a 911 dispatcher when their son Cameron was 12 days old, Bill has become a big advocate for infant and adult CPR awareness.

When he's not on TV, you can find Bill and his family exploring everything the Omaha metro has to offer. He also enjoys spending time at the gym, summer trips to Wrigley Field, and agonizing over fantasy football lineups.

Bill always loves to meet new people. Feel free to Tweet, Facebook or email him your questions, comments, story ideas, or to just say hi!
