Rob McCartney

Anchor/Reporter

Rob has been covering news in Nebraska since 1984 and has received numerous awards for his reporting.

In recognition of his consistent standard of excellence, Rob has already been inducted in the Omaha Press Club Hall of Fame, one of the few working journalists selected for that honor. He has also been recognized by his alma mater, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Since 1995, Rob has aggressively lead KETV's Crime Stoppers coverage, profiling crimes and helping bring the area's Most Wanted fugitives to justice.

He has also given viewers exclusive, rare, looks inside our military including the United States Strategic Command and its global mission to protect the nation.

His extensive coverage, which includes one-on-one interviews with presidents, has taken viewers from inside the White House to inside a burning house, all to address issues facing Heartland residents.

Rob has been honored by a number of organizations for his volunteer work in the community and is a sought-after MC for many charitable groups.

An Air Force "brat", Rob married a local girl and is fiercely proud of his family which also includes three adult children, a son-in-law, the cutest grandchild on the planet, and a consistently playful dog.

In a time when journalism is more closely scrutinized than ever, Rob is a firm believer in the "Fourth Estate" and that it is critical professional reporters must strive to be balanced and unbiased.

Following that ideal has led Rob to be called "one of the most respected reporters in Nebraska," and has helped KETV NewsWatch 7 remain the top choice for news coverage.
