Former Omaha police captain convicted in federal fraud case to be released from prison early
KETV NewsWatch 7 has learned that one of the men convicted in a federal fraud case will be released from prison early.
Rich Gonzalez, a former Omaha police captain, is being released from prison Wednesday. In January, Gonzalez was sentenced as part of a scheme to steal from the Latino Peace Officers Association and PACE.

He then used that money for personal gain.
Gonzalez's attorney said he was scheduled to be released at the end of the month.
Former Omaha police officer Johnny Palermo and former Omaha City Councilman Vinny Palermo, who are not related, were both sentenced for their roles in the fraud case.

Jack Olson, the alleged fundraiser, has pleaded not guilty. His trial is scheduled to start in September.
