IT’S A PARTNERSHIP WITH MEDICAL SOLUTIONS, NORTHEAST ELEMENTARY AND KINDERGARTEN TEACHER DEBORAH FAJARDO ARE DEDICATED TO LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE SCIENCE OF READING. SO FAJARDO SAYS THAT SCIENCE POINTS TO IMPLEMENTING A PHONICS APPROACH OR LEARNING TO READ THROUGH THE SOUNDS OF LETTERS. THE $2,500 GIFT WILL HELP HER BUY DOZENS OF NEW PHONICS BASED BOOKS FOR THE CLASSROOM THEY WANT TO READ TO THEIR DOG, TO THEIR TEDDY BEAR, TO THEIR GRANDMA, TO THEY WANT TO READ. The road to reading is getting a big boost at one Glenwood elementary school. It's all thanks to KETV's Cash for Schools program, a partnership with Medical Solutions.Northeast Elementary and kindergarten teacher Deborah Fajardo are dedicated to learning more about the science of reading.Fajardo said that science points to implementing a phonics approach — learning to read through the sounds letters make. This $2,500 gift will help her buy dozens of new phonics-based books for the classroom."They want to read to their dog, their grandma, their teddy bear — they want to read. As we've done this, we've realized it's so urgent. They deserve it. They deserve to have materials in their hands.
