7 Can Help Kids Back to School Backpack Program distributions begin today

Approximately one-third of local children live in poverty. Their families face economic hardships and their parents can’t buy school supplies for their children.7 Can Help Kids Back to School Backpack Drive donations were accepted through Tuesday, Aug. 7, at local Methodist Hospital and Clinic locations, Fun Plex & local Wendy’s locations.This year marks the 20th anniversary of the 7 Can Help Kids Back to School Backpack Program.All supplies will be distributed in the community that they are donated.KETV and the Salvation Army started the backpack program in 1998. Since then more than 189,000 local children have gone back to school prepared through the help of this program. Last year more than 13,500 local children were helped by the 7 Can Help Kids Back to School Backpack Program. To give you some perspective, in 1998 we distributed 3,100 backpacks.
