KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder has become the latest celebrity to make his opinion about Harrison Butker’s commencement speech known - “People of quality do not fear equality.”

Multiple videos posted on X show Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder took a moment during the band’s show on Saturday night, May 18, in Las Vegas - the site of the Kansas City Chiefs’ most recent Super Bowl victory - to discuss a controversial topic close to Kansas City’s heart - Harrison Butker.

The 59-year-old rockstar fired shots at Butker’s position as Kicker for the Chiefs before he launched into a monologue about Butker’s controversial commencement speech at Benedictine College.

“But, you know, he started telling men... he was telling men ‘don’t forget to puff up your chest and be more masculine, don’t lose your masculinity,” Vedder continued. “The irony is that when he was saying that, he looked like such a f****** p****. There’s nothing more masculine than a strong man supporting a strong woman. Take that. People of quality do not fear equality.”

Many have accused Vedder of fanning the flames as Mayor Qunton both the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation have been contacted in regard to the safety of city staff. The move follows another post made to X, this time by the City of Kansas City, which revealed the city in which Butker resides.

Meanwhile, the NFL reported that it had sold out of Butker women’s jerseys, however, as of Sunday the league has restocked. Both his men’s and women’s jerseys remain at the top of the league’s jersey sales.

During Butker’s commencement speech in Atchison, Kan., he discussed his Catholic faith, his wife and her title of homemaker. He dotes on her love for her family and all she does for them before he claims salvation for them both.

“I say all of this to you because I have seen it firsthand how much happier someone can be when they disregard the outside noise and move closer to God’s will in their life,” Butker told the Class of 2024. “Isabelle’s dream of having a career might not have come true, but if you asked her today if she has any regrets on her decision, she would laugh out loud, without hesitation, and say, “Heck, no.””

The kicker also took a moment to condemn President Joe Biden and how the government handled the COVID-19 pandemic, abortion, IVF, surrogacy, and euthanasia.

“While COVID might have played a large role throughout your formative years, it is not unique,” Butker continued. “Bad policies and poor leadership have negatively impacted major life issues. Things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, as well as a growing support for degenerate cultural values in media, all stem from the pervasiveness of disorder.”

To end his 20-minute speech, Butker leaves students with a word of warning as he believes they are about to enter a post-God world.

The parish’s own Benedictine Sisters of Mount Saint Scholastica shunned Butker’s “narrow definition of what it means to be Catholic.” His Priest, Father Kendall Ketterlin believed the speech would help prepare graduates for the “challenges they will face in the world when they try to live by their faith.”
