Lambert started her television career anchoring, reporting and producing news at KEYT in Santa Barbara. She holds a degree in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and worked as an anchor/reporter for KTMS-AM radio news while still in college.

Growing up, Lambert lived around the world, traveling with her marine biologist parents.
