Dirk Verdoorn

Dirk has been forecasting weather for KCRA 3 since 1998, but has been experiencing California weather most of his life. He was born in the Central Valley and is familiar with the flooding, droughts, winds and everything else associated with Northern California weather.

Dirk received a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from the University of Utah, where he gained an appreciation for the impact that mountains can have on the weather.

Along with forecasting, Dirk's passion for weather takes him to numerous local schools where he inspires kids to learn about their environment and the role that the weather plays.

"Why should you be interested in the weather? I can think of few things that impacts the lives of more people, every day, than the weather."

This passion for the weather can be seen on KCRA 3 Reports Weekends at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p. m. Where the weather comes first!
