Peyton Headlee

Peyton joined the team at KCRA 3 as a reporter in the summer of 2024. She’s thrilled to be in Northern California after spending six years in the Midwest.

She comes to Sacramento from Kansas City where she worked as a nightside reporter at KMBC 9, a Hearst Television station. In her time there, she covered the Chiefs’ back-to-back Super Bowl wins, massive snow storms, pivotal elections, and everything in between. While she’s experienced reporting from courtrooms, protests and crime scenes, her favorite stories to tell are ones that shine a light on good news happening in the community.

She graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Journalism and minors in Spanish and Sociology. During her time in Columbia, Missouri, she worked as an anchor, producer and multimedia journalist at the NBC affiliate KOMU 8.

Peyton is originally from San Diego, but spent time growing up in Oregon. Living in Sacramento puts her right in the middle of her two favorite places and closer to home and family. She loves the beach, getting outdoors and enjoys seeing everything Northern California has to offer.
