The Jordan Love fan club appears to be growing every day as he enters his second season as the Green Bay Packers' starting quarterback.

Josh Jacobs might be the president of the club.

The Packers' new running back has only been around Love for a few months since being acquired as a free agent this spring, but he has seen enough to know where his quarterback sits among the NFL's best.

"He's elite," Jacobs said in a recent interview with USA TODAY's Sports Seriously. "He’s going to be the next superstar. He's going to be the next guy, for sure. He’s definitely there, you know."

Jacobs already acknowledged this type of confidence in Love when he arrived in Green Bay. Love was one of the reasons Jacobs was drawn to Green Bay in free agency, the running back said at his introductory news conference in March. Jacobs also mentioned how he knew Love could be special even as the Packers offense and Love were in a funk early last season.

“Really, I was telling people when we were scouting them, from when we were playing them last year,” Jacobs said. “I seen him make some throws. I’m like, ‘Yeah, a lot of people can’t do it.’ Running backwards on one foot and slinging it on a dime. That kind of got me excited when I started thinking about it and just watching film on him."

Jacobs said while the 26-year-old Love doesn't have a lot of experience (20 starts), the sky is the limit with a talented core around him.

"The more that he gets opportunities, just experience the game, you know, the group of guys he has, the potential he has is through the roof," Jacobs said in his recent interview with USA TODAY Sports. "Just to see him on a day-to-day basis how he interacts with the guys, how he leads, I think he has all the traits to be special in this league."

Love, who was second in the NFL in touchdowns in 2023, led the Packers to the playoffs in his first year as the starter after taking over for Aaron Rodgers, who was traded to the New York Jets last offseason following an 18-year career in Green Bay.

In a separate interview with the NFL Network this week, Jacobs said he normally doesn't set season-long goals — he tends to take things day-to-day and the results will come — but that's changed this year.

"This year I can honestly say … I have a real goal of legacy," Jacobs said. "… I want to play in important games, play in the playoffs, make a deep run and play in that game, if we get there. So that's big for me, that's the most important thing."

Jacobs, 26, also wants to be a mentor to all the young offensive players.

"Being able to help guide them and teach them little things about what I do or what I see to help elevate their games to the next level," Jacobs said in his NFL Network interview. "I think that's part of the reason they brought me in."

Jacobs played the first five years of his career with the Raiders and led the NFL in rushing in 2022.
