OSHKOSH – Oshkosh Corporation has yet another multimillion-dollar deal with the U.S. Army.

Oshkosh Defense, a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation, recently announced a new $27.3 million contract for 57 Medium Equipment Trailers.

The announcement came just seven months after Oshkosh Corporation was awarded a five-year year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity MET production contract.

According to a news release, the MET is interoperable with the Oshkosh Enhanced Heavy Equipment Transporter System M1300 tractor and can transport combat vehicles weighing up to 60 tons.

The statement goes on to say that the 70-foot-long trailer is capable of navigating under overpasses, and the hydraulically adjustable suspension allows it to be lowered or raised for obstacle clearance and fording water crossings.

“We are honored to provide the U.S. Army with advanced trailer systems designed to deliver mission-critical equipment and cargo across any terrain worldwide,” wrote Chief Programs Officer for Oshkosh Defense Pat Williams in the release.

“The MET stands as a testament to Oshkosh Defense’s unwavering commitment to harnessing cutting-edge technology to deliver solutions that effectively address the complex logistical challenges faced by the U.S. Army and its international allies.”

According to the statement, the MET’s primary purpose is to load, secure and transport Bradley Fighting Vehicles, Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicles, Paladin, and Field Artillery Ammunition Support Vehicles.

In November, Oshkosh Defense revealed it received a $208 million order from the U.S. Army for Joint Light Tactical Vehicles, trailers and associated packaged and installed kits.

The Israeli Defense Forces also placed two orders for JLTVs with Oshkosh Defense just one month later. But that contract drew heavy criticism from pro-Palestine supporters at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, who demanded UWO administration cut longstanding ties with Oshkosh Corporation for its role in the ongoing Gaza conflict.
