The John Smith Centre is pleased to announce the launch of our latest development programme, the Mayoral Internship Programme.

The programme offers a University of Glasgow student a unique opportunity to gain professional public service experience in a local government setting.

This year, our Mayoral Internship Programme will take place in Greater Manchester. The successful applicant will work closely with Andy Burnham and his Mayoral Office staff, contributing to the operations of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA).

Throughout the two-week placement, the successful applicant will be working across the different policy teams at the GMCA, attending events and meetings, and shadowing the Mayor, gaining a broad understanding of the day-to-day work of the Mayoral Combined Authority.

The internship will take place between 2 and 13 September 2024. Travel, accommodation and subsistence costs for the 2 week duration of the internship will be provided by the John Smith Centre.

Applications close at 23.59 on 30 June 2024. There is one position available.
