Swimmer Injured By Boat Propeller At Jersey Shore

  BERKELEY – A woman suffered a serious injury from a boat propeller while swimming at Island Beach State Park Saturday afternoon, officials said.

  The woman was swimming on the bay side of the park near Seaside Park when she came into contact with a boat propeller, Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 Chief Dennis Vincent said.

  The victim suffered a serious laceration and was airlifted to a local hospital. She was listed in stable condition Saturday afternoon, Vincent said.

  First responders assisting on scene were Seaside Park firefighters along with Seaside Heights Fire Department, Island Beach State Park lifeguards and the Tri-Boro First Aid Squad.

  At this time, the victim’s identity has not been released.
