A woman in her 70s has died following a collision between a car and truck in Co Waterford this morning.
The collision occurred at around 9.20am at an area known as Garranbane on the N25 near Dungarvan.
The woman, who was in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services while the truck driver was treated for shock.
This latest death brings to 100 the number of people who have lost their lives on the nation’s roads so far this year. Compared to the same time last year, 13 additional people have died.

Local diversions were in place and the Garranbane road in and out of Dungarvan will remain closed for several hours as forensic crash investigators examine the scene.
Gardaí said they are investigating the collision and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
In a statement gardaí added: “The driver of the car, a woman aged in her 70s, was treated by emergency services at the scene but passed away from her injuries. The driver of the truck [male] has been taken to Waterford University Hospital where he is receiving treatment for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.”
The road remained closed for an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.
