Naga Munchetty has shared the real reason she wasn’t on BBC Breakfast last week after fans began wondering where she was.

Usual co-host Charlie Stayt was instead seen sharing the famous red sofa with more junior BBC Royal correspondent, Sarah Campbell, in Naga’s absence. It turns out the 48-year-old presenter was taking some well-deserved time off as she revealed she had been up in Scotland on holiday.

Posting snaps of her idyllic break on Instagram, she wrote: “A week in my happy place.” Naga, who loves to keep fit and regularly posts pictures of herself after workouts and runs, is a keen golfer as she tagged Castle Stuart Golf Links as her location, which is in Inverness.

The weather looked to have been good as Naga posted sunset snaps of her and some pals on the golf course, which is thought to be one of the best in the world. In one picture, Naga looked as if she could go professional as she practised her swing.

Summing up her week away, Naga told her 63,000 Instagram followers: “Great fun, amazing weather and lots of golf to content with. Felt fabulous to be somewhere so peaceful and full of laughter with friends.”

She added: “Even managed to fit in some running along the coast (and no, I didn’t run on the greens!) Can’t wait to be there again,” followed by sunshine and golf player emojis.

Fans were quick to comment underneath, with one writing: “Naga, you are in golfing heaven. Scotland is my favourite golfing destination. There is nowhere else quite like it.” Another said: “Try East Lothian next Naga.”

A third penned: “Some excellent photos! Hope the midges aren’t biting and you’re finding the greens.” “You had fantastic weather that week too. I live in Inverness and we never get weather like this in September!” said a fourth.

“If you’re popping down to Loch Lomond area drop me a message and I’ll play The Carrick with you,” a fifth offered. While a sixth added: “Great to see you’ve had such a fabulous break. Looking forward to seeing you back on the telly.”

While Naga had a great time on her holiday in Scotland, she has previously spoken out about how her honeymoon was one of the most boring breaks she has ever had – but it’s not for the reason you think.

Naga and TV director husband of 16 years James Haggar honeymooned in Mauritius back in 2007. But far from being the break she imagined, Naga was forced to spend most of it on a sun lounger after hurting her leg on the second day.

"So - this sounds awful - one of the most boring holidays I had was my honeymoon. And not for the reasons you may think," she told Alan Carr on his Life's a Beach podcast.

She recalled how she ended up stuck on the beach throughout her whole honeymoon, after she cut her leg on barnacles in the sea. And under doctor orders, she wasn't able to get the cut anywhere near water for the rest of the holiday.

"I had to have little mini stitches in it and couldn't shower the leg for the rest of the honeymoon. Couldn't do any more water sports so literally had to sit on a beach or go to the tea plantation. I was a bit bored. And read a lot,” she added.
