Leona Maguire is positioned well despite losing ground on the leaders as she gears up for the final round of the KPMG Women's PGA Championship.

After beginning her tournament with rounds of 70 and 71, the Cavan native shot 75 on Saturday to slip down into a tie for 14th place. However, the two-time winner on the LPGA tour is just seven strokes behind leader Amy Yang.

Beginning her third round just three strokes off the lead, Maguire failed to catch fire and made three Bogeys as she made the turn in three over-par. She consolidated that score on the back-nine to remain in touching distance of the leader.

It will take some effort to catch Yang however, as she has been in sparkling form all week and has made just three Bogeys in 54 holes of major golf.

"I grew up watching so many great players in the past, and I saw them winning all the major championships," said the five-time winner on the LPGA Tour. "I dreamed about playing out here because of them. I work hard for this.

"It’ll mean a lot, but we still got 18 more holes out there and that’s a lot of golf left for major championship."
