Belfast hip-hop trio Kneecap have been invited across the pond to be guests on one of the biggest talk shows in the world.

Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí will travel to the US this day next week to appear on The Tonight Show chatting to host Jimmy Fallon about their new biopic, Irish politics and growing up in Belfast.

The late-night US programme is the longest-running talk show in the world, with Ireland’s own Late Late Show nabbing the number two spot, and has seen a plethora of some of the most famous stars in the world appear on the show.

On Friday, the trio took to their social media pages to announce the exciting news to their fans. On X, Kneecap wrote: "All American heads! Next Friday we’re on the Tonight Show with the man himself Jimmy Fallon. Course we are!"

The outfit is poised to release their much anticipated new biopic, titled Kneecap, following positive reviews at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah earlier this year - the first-ever Irish language film to premiere at the famous festival.

The anti-establishment comedy is inspired by the Irish language rappers' formation as a group with the trio playing heightened versions of their own lives against the backdrop of post-Troubles Northern Ireland.

Recently, the Belfast Irish-language rap group garnered headlines after they used their appearance on the Late Late Show to highlight the ongoing "genocide" in Gaza.

Kneecap member DJ Próvaí donned a jersey in support of Palestine to cheers from the audience

DJ Próvaí, clad in his iconic tricolour balaclava, removed the jacket he had been wearing to unveil a jersey featuring an Arabic slogan and a Palestinian flag on the crest in support of the Palestinian people.

Following the airing of the show, RTÉ subsequently released a statement confirming that the rap trio were asked to not wear pro-Palestinian badges during their appearance.
