And speaking to us, local TD Michael Healy-Rae revealed that he was a close pal of Mr O’Mahony and is completely devastated over his loss.

“The late Paddy O’Mahony was a very close personal friend of mine for many many decades.

“What has happened to him is awful. I would have had a lot dealings with him through his work in the gun club and the shooting range. Through that I was a very personal friend of his and I am a member of the range.

“But outside of that we would be personal fiends. His late wife Lilly only died a short time ago in the last number months. I’m very sorry for all his family and relatives and I’m shocked at his sudden passing.
