Teen Mom star Amber Portwood hasn’t always been lucky in love, though she seems to have found happiness with her new fiancé, Gary Wayt. Who is Amber dating, how did they meet and more?
Who Is Teen Mom’s Amber Portwood’s Fiance?
It was revealed that Amber has a new man in her life in January 2024. “His name is Gary. She met him on a dating app four months ago,” an insider explained to Us Weekly. “They are taking their time getting to know each other, but it’s getting serious.”
Not much is known about Gary, though he is said to be in his 30s and doesn’t have kids of his own. However, the source explained that he is “very family-oriented” and helps take care of his parents.
How Long Has Teen Mom’s Amber Been Dating Boyfriend Gary Wayt?
The insider explained that the pair have been seeing each other for a few months, while Gary lives near Amber in her hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Unlike many of Amber’s ex-boyfriends, Gary has never watched her on the MTV franchise. “All the guys Amber has dated before she met on social media and were fans of the show,” the source shared. “This new man in her life has actually never seen Teen Mom so she feels she can finally date in the way she’s always wanted to.”
Gary made his debut on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter during the June 6, 2024, episode, with Amber formally introducing him to her costars as her “boyfriend” during a group Zoom call. “We are now officially a couple,” she added.
“Hello everybody. My name is actually Gary believe it or not,” her man said, joking that Amber’s ex is also named Gary.
“Maybe this is the Gary for you,” cast member Jade Cline said. Amber replied, “It seems like it.”
Are Amber Portwood and Gary Wayt Engaged?
Us Weekly reported on June 7, 2024, that Amber and her boyfriend had decided to take their relationship to the next step with an engagement. A source told the publication that a proposal happened “within the last two weeks,” adding that the Teen Mom star’s ring was crafted from “a family stone that was reset into a new ring.”
“She’s really, really happy,” the insider said.
The source continued, “They’ve been in couple’s therapy and talk about everything. They’re being very proactive in their relationship and are doing the work to prevent problems before they start.”
Amber has not publicly confirmed that she and Gary are engaged.
Gary Wayt Was Declared Missing in June 2024
On June 11, 2024, the Bryson City, North Carolina, Police Department issued a missing person alert for Gary via Facebook.
“Missing person GARY R. WAYT. 39 yrs old . 6’01” 205 pounds bald with brown eyes, last seen 06/09/2024 on Arlington Ave. area of Bryson City NC. Drive a grey SUV 2009 Nissan Rogue with Indiana state registration plate WLH 616. Any information please call 828488-2196. Ask for Chief Robinson or Assnt. Chief Dover,” the post read.
Amber addressed Gary’s disappearance during a YouTube live stream on Elle Bee’s channel.
“This is a huge deal. His parents, everybody, [are] very worried. … There was not a big blowout fight or anything like that. He is a missing person right now. … Nobody has found him or heard from him yet,” Amber said while holding back tears on June 11, 2024. “They only know that he was in a Walgreens alone on camera [the day he went missing]. So, please, everyone, do not think the harshest things right now.”
Amber explained that the couple had been vacationing in North Carolina and had an “emotional” conversation before Gary went missing.
On June 13, 2024, Us Weekly reported that Gary had been seen via video footage in Oklahoma, 900 miles from where he was last with Amber. The following day, the Bryson City Police Department revealed that Gary had been found safe and the case was closed.
“Update: Gary Wayt has been located,” read a statement shared via Facebook on June 14. “No further information available at this time.”
Who Else Has Teen Mom’s Amber Portwood Dated?
Fans have watched Amber pursue several relationships over the years. When she made her reality TV debut during 16 and Pregnant in 2009, Amber was dating Gary Shirley. The former couple welcomed their daughter, Leah, in November 2008. He was awarded full custody of Leah in 2011, while they now coparent their daughter together.
Her next romance was with Matt Baier. The duo met via Twitter in 2014 and got engaged the following year. They experienced many problems in their relationship and appeared on Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars: Family Edition in 2017, which ultimately led to their split.
Amber then went on to date Andrew Glennon in 2017. The pair welcomed their son, James, in May 2018, before they eventually split in 2019. Andrew was awarded full custody of James in 2022.
Following her split from Andrew, Amber began dating Dimitri Garcia in January 2020. He even appeared on Teen Mom OG during season 9. However, their romance was short-lived and they split in early 2021.
