Moving On! Everything We Know About Sister Wives’ Christine and Kody Brown’s Messy Split
Messy breakup. Almost one year after Sister Wives star Christine Brown announced her divorce from Kody Brown, viewers are finally watching their split go down during season 17 of the TLC show.
The mother of six announced her split from Kody in November 2021. “After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart and I have made the difficult decision to leave,” the reality star wrote in a statement via her Instagram account on November 2.
She shared the news two weeks after In Touch confirmed she moved from Arizona back to her home state of Utah. “We will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family. At this time, we ask for your grace and kindness as we navigate through this stage within our family.”
After becoming spiritually married in 1994, Christine and Kody welcomed kids Aspyn, Mykelti, Paedon, Ysabel, Gwendlyn and Truely.
Following Christine’s official decision to leave the Brown patriarch, she admitted during the September 18 episode that she was “not looking forward” to telling her sister wives Meri Brown, Janelle Brown and Robyn Brown about the split.
“I don’t want to burn bridges at the end of this,” she told Kody. “Some relationships are going to be fine, some are not going to be fine.”
The Cooking with Just Christine star added that it will “definitely” be a “hard” conversation for them to have with Kody’s three other wives. He then wondered if he should be present during the tough conversation, though Christine insisted she needed him to be there with her.
“I would like it to be me leaving is me leaving, but we have talked about it,” she continued.
In a confessional, Christine predicted how Meri, Janelle, and Robyn will react to the divorce. “I know that they’re going to be frustrated and mad and hurt and feel betrayed and [wonder], What does that mean to be a sister wife then? Am I still a sister wife?’ And the answer is no,” she said. “I can’t be their sister wife anymore. I can be their friend.”
“The relationship, like, how I have with Janelle is probably going to stay like that,” Christine added. “How not very close I am with Robyn and Meri is gonna stay like that too.”
While Kody and Christine consider their separation a divorce, a legal expert previously explained to In Touch in February that “there is no such thing as a polygamous divorce.”
“A person can only have one legal spouse, and that is true in every state,” Michael J. Higdon — Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Professor of Law at University of Tennessee College of Law – said at the time.

Selling Her Property
Christine cut ties from Kody when she sold her portion of the family’s Coyote Pass land in Flagstaff, Arizona, back to the father of 18 and his legal wife, Robyn, for $10, according to property records obtained by In Touch.
The full cash value of Christine’s portion was valued at $213,420. She signed over the parcel of land to Kody and Robyn on July 28, 2022.

Ready to Date
In August 2022, Christine revealed that she’s ready to start dating again. “I would love to date. Love the idea of the end having a romantic partner,” she told People at the time. “But I talked to Truely about it the other day and she’s like, ‘Mom, I really like our life how it is now.’ Down the road. I’m just going to let fate take care of that one.”

Despite being raised in a polygamist family, Christine said she “will be a monogamist from here on out.”
“I want a guy who actually loves me and wants to be with me intimately,” she told People. “I just want to be an example to my kids more than anything. I always told them, ‘Do what’s going to make you happy,’ I have to do the same.”
Reflecting on her marriage to Kody, she continued, “I started thinking maybe this isn’t working for me. And then I stopped believing in polygamy. I realized I didn’t really want to live it anymore. I didn’t like sharing a husband or feeling like I wasn’t important.”

Coparenting Disagreements
Christine revealed that disagreements over how they treated their kids played into her marital problems with Kody, citing his refusal to support Ysabel when she underwent corrective surgery for her scoliosis due to COVID-19 concerns.
“He broke my little girl’s heart,” Christine told People in August, referring to how Kody declined to accompany Christine when she traveled out of state with Ysabel in September 2020 to visit a specialist. “I really find it hard to stay with a guy who I don’t respect. I understood COVID, and why he couldn’t come, but she didn’t. And she still has a really hard time with it.”
She continued, “I was there with Ysabel the whole time in New Jersey for the surgery. And I remember them pointing out, like, ‘Are you here alone? Where’s your husband?’ I’m like, ‘Oh, he’s not here.’ And they’re like, ‘Whoa, isn’t that hard?’ And I’m like, ‘No, it’s hard for her.’ It’s hard for Ysabel, but it’s not hard for me.’ It was a good wake-up call.”
“In the end, I would’ve preferred to have him there, of course, because it’s what Ysabel needed,” the reality star said, before adding, “But I didn’t need him anymore.”

Calling Kody Out
While discussing their split during the September 11 episode of the show, Christine called her ex “cowardly” and told him to “man the f–k up.”
“We’ve been married for 25 years. I’ve known you for almost 30 years. Don’t insult me, tell me straight up. If you don’t want to be married to me anymore, you don’t want to have an intimate marriage with me anymore, flipping tell me,” Christine said.
At another point in the episode, Christine confronted Kody about his reluctance to officially divorce her. “Why are you insisting on holding onto me? This isn’t working, Kody. You said it wasn’t working too,” she said.

Kody’s ‘Favorite Wife’
Another source of tension in Kody and Christine’s marriage came from his close relationship with Robyn.
“I think he has a favorite wife and that’s why all of this is like it is,” Christine confessed during the September 11 episode. “And apparently, I’m not treating her well enough.”
Her claim came after she and Kody had a heated conversation about the status of their relationship.
“You’re not interested in an intimate marriage with me, I was,” she told Kody. “I’m not interested in intimate marriage with you anymore, even if you said at this point, we could have intimacy again, I wouldn’t believe it for a second.”
Christine went on to explain that she once viewed plural marriage as “awesome” when she felt “secure and had an important place,” though her feelings have changed and she now feels “displaced.”
She added, “I felt hopeless. Yes, I got jealous for the first time ever.”
“Stop pointing the blame at me. You and I have intimacy and love in the relationship. I’m sorry it’s conditional based upon being part of a plural family,” Kody replied. “Even if you said you liked plural marriage, you would be devoted to it — I wouldn’t believe it for a second.”

‘Major Injustice’
Kody opened up about his frustrations over Christine’s decision to end their plural relationship during the September 18 episode.
“This feels like a major injustice that’s being done to me, and it galls me,” he told cameras during a confessional, adding, ”I just can’t let it go. I don’t know why it’s such a struggle. It’s curling my toes. I need some grief counseling or something. I don’t know what’s going on here with my attachment. I can’t let go.”
While talking to Christine, Kody acknowledged that he could have handled their split differently. “I want to apologize for being so angry,” he told her. “I just said, ‘Christine what do you want?’ And you said, ‘I just want to be free.’ And I’m sorry I was so angry,” he told her. “I’m sitting here going I’ve had to do a lot of introspection. I need to get to a place where I can rejoice about your happiness and your freedom.”

Robyn Chimes In
Despite Christine’s belief that Kody favors Robyn above his other wives, the mother of four shut down the claim during the September 18 episode.
“You know, this isn’t a new complaint, that Kody favors me,” she said during a confessional. “I’m not getting some preferential treatment, even though that’s what they think.”
Robyn told the cameras that the other wives “make assumptions” about how Kody is in her home. While Robyn agreed that plural marriage was “hard,” she added, “You have to choose it every day.”
“You have to want everyone in the family to be happy, as much as you want yourself to be happy. It’s the only way to do it successfully in my opinion,” she continued. “That’s why you can’t get lazy in it.”

Custody of Truely
An insider exclusively told In Touch in October that Kody is not involved with raising Truley following the split.
“Basically, he’s not in Truely’s life,” the source shared, adding that distance is the main factor in the decision. “Kody won’t go anywhere. Christine has to accommodate Kody. He’s still paranoid about COVID and everything else. So, if Christine is not choosing to do the transporting and making it happen — nor would she put Truely through any of this stress — then Kody won’t have a relationship with Truely. He would have to leave his nest to see his daughter.”
During the October 2 episode of Sister Wives, Kody slammed Christine from taking Truely away with her.
“I’m disgusted by this idea that she’s moving, and she’s gonna take Truely and move to Utah,” he told the cameras. “Truely’s my child.”
However, Christine argued that Kody was an absent father even before their separation.
“Hell, he could have had 50/50 time with us the whole time we lived here!” she said. “Let’s just say we’ve lived [in Flagstaff] for 800 days. He went hiking with us once. He’s been kayaking with us twice, one time he didn’t even get in the water. That’s three times he’s gone with us. Three out of 800.”

Reflecting on the Relationship
During the October 2 episode, Christine admitted to Meri, Janelle and Robyn that her marriage to Kody had problems for years.
“It’s no secret that Kody and I have been in a rough spot for a long time,” she told her fellow sister wives. “I have decided to leave Kody. It’s a hard decision. I need to make a choice for happiness. I need to make a choice to have joy in my life and peace and there hasn’t been a lot of hope at all until I decided to leave. I feel strongly this is the best choice for me.”

‘Delusional World’
Kody admitted he hadn’t come to terms with what his life without Christine would look like during the October 9 episode.
“This evening has gone off without a hitch. It’s been wonderful, and I think Ysabel has felt special,” he said after Ysabel’s graduation and birthday party, which Christine attended. “I’m just blue. We will never be there again. If we really go through with this, as Christine is leaving, is she really going to leave? I’m living in a delusional world where [I’m] wishing that Christine wouldn’t leave.”
Christine later shared her thoughts on Kody’s mindset in her own confessional. “Kody is not one to hide his emotions. He’s more, like, gonna show you how he’s feeling, and I think he’s just super sad. And it’s bittersweet,” she said. “He loves Ysabel. And he hasn’t spent enough time with her, and I think he’s probably realizing that.”

The Wives’ Breaking Points
After Christine left Kody, he admitted that each of his wives’ have breaking points in regards to their plural marriages.
“I got a feeling through this experience that each wife has a breaking point where they’re just not going to put up with whatever the other wives’ needs are anymore,” the polygamous patriarch said during the October 9 episode. “They’re, like, going to do their own thing. Janelle has done that before.”
He then explained that plural marriage is a collaborative effort, meaning that each member needs to be “compliant” to the group’s needs.
“Here’s the funny thing in plural marriage: A wife works with you or works against you,” Kody said. “Janelle and I would be a team sometimes and wouldn’t be sometimes. Christine was usually fairly compliant and then when we decided we didn’t want to move to Utah when Christine wanted to move to Utah, it’s like, ‘Well, I’m going to Utah.’ Christine became suddenly very independent.”
Meanwhile, he said Meri and Robyn are much more willing to “work together.”
“I always thought Meri was working with me fairly well,” Kody continued. “Robyn’s whole goal when she came into the family was to become part of this family and work together with our family.”

Questioning Plural Marriage
Also during the October 9 episode of Sister Wives, Kody admitted his family’s initial approach to polygamy now seems “dysfunctional.”
After stating that his “life is in a form of limbo” following Christine’s decision to leave, he said he doesn’t know what his new life “looks like.”
“I’ve been sort of in the anger phase of divorce, and so I’ve not been addressing it very well,” Kody explained. “I guess this construction project [on the family’s Coyote Pass property] with Janelle and Pete [is] kind of one of those things to get my mind off the divorce frustration. But dude, I am in the anger phase and every once in a while, I just get tied up in knots over Christine leaving.”
He continued, “It’s a weird thing to be getting left. It’s made me question getting into plural marriage. It’s made me question my faith and especially question religion. The message that we had to the world about functional polygamy seems so dysfunctional now.”

Christine and Kody’s daughter Ysabel and Mykelti shared their reactions to their parents’ separation during the October 9 episode.
“I think with my mom and dad getting a divorce, if I’m honest, I did see it coming, but of course I’m sad about it,” Ysabel said during a confessional. “Sometimes it just doesn’t work out and I’m happy my mom will be able to find somebody who she’s really, really, really happy with.”
Mykelti was also supportive of Christine’s decision to leave the marriage. “I was honestly relieved when I heard my mom was leaving my dad,” she said. “They’re not happy. They’re not in love.”

After Truely accidentally learned about the split while overhearing Christine discuss it on the phone, the former couple’s youngest child shared her reaction during the October 23 episode.
“So, the first day when I found out, I was extremely upset. I’m fine now,” Truely told Christine. “I kind of noticed the signs earlier that you weren’t as happy. But you didn’t really show it that much. It was a bit of a heartbreak at first but I’m fine [now].”
She went on to confess that she was mostly upset about being the last of their children to learn about the split. “The realization that everybody knew before me — felt like a betrayal,” the preteen said during a confessional.

In a teaser clip for the season 17 midseason finale, Christine prepared for her move from Arizona to Utah.
While she hoped Kody and her sister wives didn’t “hate” her, Meri threw shade by sarcastically stating in a confessional, “Congratulations, you’re leaving the family. Like, I don’t know what I’m supposed to say to this.”

Disagreements Over Assets
During the October 30 episode, the former couple failed to see eye to eye when it came to dividing their assets.
“If you split everything 50/50 that means I get fifty percent of everything that he has — all of his property,” she explained in a confessional. “That means his and Robyn’s house too if he wants to go down that road.”
Christine said that she hoped to make the division of the assets “clean and easy,” adding, “I get the house, you can have the property.”
Meanwhile, Kody explained that there’s a “tendency” for the wives to put everything in their name in a plural marriage in case the husband is jailed for cohabitation. “I assume what we’re doing is splitting all of our assets, the house, the land, everything we’ve got 50/50,” he said. “Which is funny because she’s already sold some of the stuff that was ours.”

In a teaser clip for the November 6 episode shared by Today, Kody and Christine shared their thoughts on how they expect the public to respond to their split.

And in a moment, [Christine] decides we’re divorced. And it feels like it delegitimizes everything I’ve worked for, for so long,” he said.
Christine then shared her own fears in a confessional, revealing that she and her ex have different concerns. “When I chose to leave Kody, I knew I would be open publicly about it and this was a decision that I was making that other people would know and it wasn’t a private decision,” she explained. “One of the things that I was concerned about was would I be considered a fraud? Robyn’s Thoughts
Robyn slammed Christine for referring to herself as “divorced” from Kody during the November 6 episode.
“Christine just saying ‘I’m divorced’ is sort of invalidating our beliefs,” she admitted during a confessional. “We’re spiritually married to Kody by our church. If we want a divorce, then we have to go get their approval. Usually they require counseling and lots of meetings. Technically, from my understanding, until Christine is physical with another man … she’s not divorced.”
However, Christine argued she’s already left the faith and no longer needs to follow those guidelines. “I don’t have any legal contract that binds me with Kody [since we’re just spiritually married],” she said. “There was no legal process we had to go through. Neither of us are part of that religion anymore, so me just saying “I’m divorced,” I don’t see a problem with that at all.”

Christine’s Clear Conscience
During the November 6 episode, Christine, Kody and his three wives sat down to discuss their separation. After he claimed her decision to leave him “delegitimize” their stance on plural marriage, Christine insisted she has no regrets about how she handled the situation.
“When I chose to leave Kody, I knew I would be open publicly about it and this was decision that I was making that other people would know about,” she said. “One of the things I was concerned about was if I would be considered a fraud and a liar. But I know, without a doubt, that I’ve tried for years to make this work. I have a clear conscience knowing I gave it my best. If people want to look at me and think otherwise, okay. I can’t do anything about that.”
Christine continued, “Being a mom is my most important thing. I couldn’t, with a clear conscience, stay married to someone who had favorites and made it very known and someone who was breaking my kids’ hearts. I had to stand with them instead. I wanted to do it for them.”

‘Broken Family’
In a teaser clip for the November 13 episode shared by People, Kody told Robyn that Christine treated her “like dirt from the very beginning” during a family meeting.
“That’s the reason I’m pissed off. Is because you never tried to have a really good relationship with these people,” he then yelled at Christine. “It’s vomiting out of me. Because I’ve sat here with it just like, ‘Christine, try and do this.’ You wanted to renegotiate a relationship with me, but you wouldn’t even have a decent one with them.”
Kody continued to slam his ex’s attitude surrounding their past relationship and claimed she put a “knife in the kidneys.” He added, “The sacrifices I’ve made to love you. Wasted!”
“The accountability is what I’ve been asking for here. And you are running away rather than being accountable. You’re like, ‘I’m divorced. I’m leaving. I’m done with you. You’re out of my house’ instead of actually making the relationships work and trying,” the TV personality added. “ If you’re not trying to be your best self in this relationship and in this family, then you are wasting your time. Marriage is a call to be better than you are. Plural marriage is a higher call.”
While Christine insisted she never intentionally tried to be rude to Robyn, Kody made it clear that he disagreed. “You admitted to it, and you couldn’t correct it,” he responded. “And now we’re sitting here with a broken family.”

Needing Space
During the November 13 episode, Christine admitted she needed space from Meri and Robyn amid her split from Kody.
The Brown family gathered for a family meeting to discuss their dynamic moving forward. “Are you in a place where you just want to go do your thing, and those of the kids that [you] have a relationship with, you’ll spend time with them,” Robyn asked Christine. “And the rest of us, that maybe you don’t have a great relationship with, do we just need to, like, give you your space? Are you interested in some sort of a, like, trying to work stuff out maybe from the past how many years?”
Christine agreed that having space from the family would be beneficial, noting that her relationships with Meri and Robyn haven’t been that great.
“As far as the relationships with the other adults, I think Janelle and I are super close. But I’m not that close with the rest of you,” she told the group. “And for right now, I need it that way.”

“A year ago, when I looked at mine and Kody’s relationship, I really felt like I couldn’t stay, but I hadn’t yet decided to move,” she said. “I looked at our relationship, and how I was, I just got to thinking it’s not a relationship I would wish on any friend of mine.”
Kody fired back by sharing his view on the situation. “This is what I remember. You were interested in the family, not in the man. That’s been your mantra,” he said. “But it became about the man and not about the family. And that, I think, is my angry place. That’s the reason I’m struggling with this is because we have invested and invested and invested, and it wasn’t about the family, it was about the man. And this is my frustration and it’s also my accusation.”
The father of 18 continued, “I’m angry that you weren’t willing to invest in the family, but you were only interested in what I could do for you — me as a resource for you. And it breaks my heart because now we’re at this point where it’s just over and it’s done.”

Mykelti Won’t Choose Sides
Mykelti showed support for both Robyn and her mom, Christine, after she left Kody.
In a teaser clip from the November 20 episode shared by Entertainment Tonight, Mykelti visited Kody and Robyn to introduce them to her baby daughter, Avalon.
“Even though I know that I have 100 percent support from Mykelti, I know that she also supports Robyn 100 percent,” Christine said of her daughter, who has a close relationship with Robyn, in a confessional. “She can balance like nobody I know.”
“I’m so glad you came to see us with everything going on with your mom and everything like that,” Robyn told Mykelti, referencing the family’s strained dynamic. “I just appreciate you coming.”
After Robyn expressed her concern that her problems Christine could affect her relationship with Mykelti, the mother of one insisted that they are both still mother figures to her.
“That’s just my biggest thing is making sure our relationship continues, and it’s based on what goes on in our relationship,” Robyn said, while Mykelti added, “It’s not based on outside sources.”
Kody then admitted he cares about how the split has impacted his relationship with his 18 kids.
“If it’s what she wants, I think it’s important to support what she wants,” Mykelti said, showing support for Christine’s decision to end their spiritual marriage.

Staying Away From Christine
Also during the November 20 episode, Kody insisted he doesn’t “want to see Christine ever again” amid their divorce drama.
“I don’t want to think about her. I don’t want to drive past this house ever again and mourn this,” he said in a confessional. “I don’t want to sit and be in this place again. I don’t want to deal with this at all.”
“You are running away rather than being accountable. You’re like ‘I’m divorced,’” Kody said in the clip shared by People. “I’m leaving, I’m done with you.”
In another clip from the upcoming episode shared by People, he continued, “There is such a strike to all my feelings and all the work that I’ve done for our family to come here to sort of have this family gathering, and say ‘goodbye’ that is way off course for me. Way off the charts. It’s not even right. It feels so demeaning.”

Clarifying Her Comments
Following her tense fight with Kody and Robyn about needing space, Christine spoke to Janelle about what went down during the November 20, 2022, episode.
“I didn’t mean it like a cut and dry, it’s over. That’s not what I was trying to convey at all,” Christine said.
“I’m actually glad to know that,” Janelle replied, stating that Robyn believed Christine was entirely distancing herself from the family.
Christine further clarified her comments in a confessional. “That’s devastating. That was the hardest part of the conversation for me was when I realized when it was over what I had said and I don’t know how to fix that,” she said.

Tearful Goobye
Later in the episode, the Brown family gathered to say goodbye to Christine before she moved to Utah.
“It’s very apparent how awkward we all are. Janelle and her kids are on one side and Robyn and her kids are on the other,” Christine explained in a confessional. “None of us want to be here.”
After Christine noted that Robyn and Kody’s kids seemed to be upset with her, Robyn clarified that they “weren’t angry” with her. “They’re sort of the innocent parties in this, all of the kids are. It’s just devastating,” Robyn said.
Despite the awkwardness, Christine struggled to hold back tears as she said goodbye to her polygamous family. “You guys, thank you for coming. It means a lot to me that you came,” she said before bursting into tears.
“I think this was the worst goodbye that I’ve ever witnessed,” she later admitted in a confessional.

‘Poisoning’ Relationships
During the November 27 episode, Kody opened up about how his divorce from Christine was negatively impacting his relationships with Janelle and Robyn.
“I’m struggling so much with this divorce. It’s probably poisoning my relationship with Janelle a little bit and definitely poisoning my relationship with Robyn,” Kody said in a confessional. “I think that’s because I haven’t figured out what I am when we’re not this family. I’m out of my frame and I’m out of my purpose. I’m spiritually off course. I’m a mess.”
Meanwhile, Christine admitted the split wasn’t easy for her during her own confessional. “No one ever wants to leave a marriage,” she said. “I’m leaving broken hearts behind and that’s what’s hard. Starting over is hard.”
As for Janelle, she noted there are “no rules” in how the family should move forward amid the split. “I don’t think any of us knows what goes on now,” the grandmother of two added.

Responding to Kody’s ‘Attraction’ Comments
While appearing on a December 2022 episode of the “Reality Life With Kate Casey” podcast, Christine responded to Kody’s claims that he wasn’t attracted to her on their wedding day.
“Actually, that was an empowering moment, as hard as it was,” she admitted. “I kind of look back and I’m like, ‘Ah, I can see where you weren’t here and here and here and here and here and here.’ But you know what, if this has been happening for this long, I’m done. It’s over. I’m not going to keep pretending and I’m not going to keep doing this.”
The TLC personality then said that Kody’s comment confirmed she made the right choice in ending their marriage. “If you really haven’t been attracted to me, and if you really didn’t really want a relationship with me, and you didn’t really want to spend time with me … it was almost like this burden got lifted,” Christine continued. “And I was like, ‘Alright, then it’s time to move on.’”

Christine’s Tantrums
Kody accused Christine of “playing games” during their marriage in a teaser clip shared by Us Weekly from the December 18 special Sister Wives: One-on-One.
“From the time we were married [there was] manipulation. Pouting. Temper tantrums,” he claimed about the problems in their marriage. “Just behavior things.”
Kody then recalled a moment when Christine allegedly lashed out at him for trying to fix the problems between Meri and the rest of the family.
“Some of the games that were happening, were things like when we moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, I was trying to reconcile with Meri,” he told the special’s host, Sukanya Krishnan. “Meri gave me this really cool birthday present and I’m in this place, telling Janelle, Christine and Robyn that I might reconcile with Meri.”
“She comes to a family party [that day] and leaves yelling to one of the kids that she was in a loveless marriage,” the TV personality continued. “This is two years before she kicks me out.”

Comparing Wives
Christine slammed Kody for comparing his wives in the teaser clip for the Sister Wives: One-on-One special, claiming that his behavior created more drama within the family.
She also reflected on the state of their marriage before their separation. “I think for him, he would be fine if we just had a platonic, completely not even friends [relationship],” Christine shared. “That’s not a marriage.”

‘Super Embarrassing’
During the Sister Wives: One on One special on December 18, Christine further opened up about Kody’s comments that he wasn’t physically attracted to her.
She admitted the comments were “terrible to hear” and “super embarrassing.”
“I just got to thinking you know what? It really just goes both ways,” Christine added. “I really just wasn’t attracted — after he said that I was kind of like, ‘Oh, well then I’m done. It’s over.’ It was almost a relief. I’m not going to keep fighting for this or trying if you’re not attracted to me. So everything that I’ve done for you and for the family means nothing.”

Standing Her Ground
In part 2 of the Sister Wives: One on One tell-all, Christine reacted to Kody’s accusations that she reacted negatively to a possible reconciliation with Meri.
“That’s really, absolutely frustrating and offensive right now,” the Cooking With Just Christine star said. “There’s no way I would not support him and Meri having a great relationship if that’s what they both wanted. That’s absolutely ridiculous. I think there was something that was twisted in that there was no way I would have ever felt like that. I don’t feel like that. And I am so frustrated that he just doesn’t know me. That he would twist my words to somehow think that I would say anything like that. And that he would say that and spread that lie is what’s frustrating. That’s a lie. That’s not me, and I would never do that.”

A ‘Survivor’
Christine reflected on being a “survivor” in a late December 2022 TikTok post, in which she promoted her weight loss journey.
“I’m a survivor. It was time I put myself first,” she captioned her clip, which was synced to Destiny’s Child’s “Survivor” single. “I’m not going to give up because I am worth it. I’m going to work harder.”

Kody Accuses Christine of Having Ulterior Motives
Kody claimed that Christine has intentionally spoken negatively about him after their split to paint her in a better light.
“What she’s actually doing is — ‘[He] broke my baby’s heart; I don’t respect him; [he’s a] coward, I don’t respect him; [he] picks favorites; I don’t respect him’ — just name it. She’s been s–t talking me,” the patriarch said about Christine during part 2 of the Sister Wives: One on One tell-all on January 1. “She’s trying to assuage her guilt by saying I’m a bad man. And I get it. She needs to do that so she can find another man who will trust her. Because if she leaves a good man, most guys are going to go, ‘This is risky.'”
Kody also insisted that he never loved Christine, claiming that she asked “to be in the family” and that he “felt a lot of pressure” due to her status within their community.
“Christine was basically royalty in our church,” he explained. “I look back and it wasn’t fair for me to go, ‘Oh, this will look good for me.'”
