Shonda Rhimes first introduced us to aspiring surgeon Meredith Grey in March of 2005 when the pilot of Grey’s Anatomy premiered. Now — one plane crash, multiple shocking deaths, and a secret baby later — Rhimes’ flagship series is back for its 18th season. And it couldn’t have come sooner.

You’ll recall last season that Meredith spent most of her time in a COVID-19 induced fever dream which saw her reuniting with lost colleagues and former beau “McDreamy.��� Though season 17 was filled with its fair share of drama and heavy moments, it ended on a surprisingly upbeat note. The finale fast-forwarded eight months through the COVID-19 pandemic and featured a successful Maggie-Winston wedding (finally), an accepted proposal between Owen and Teddy, and a failed proposal between Link and Amelia. 

But the biggest twist of the season came when a heartbroken Link showed up at Jackson’s door asking to “crash for a bit.” This potential new union has fans divided, but if there’s one thing that everyone can agree on, it’s that we can’t wait to see what happens next. And on Sept. 30, we’ll have our answer.
