Data Protection

Data protection law applies to the use of information which is about you ("personal data") by organisations, known as controllers and processors. 

Organisations using your personal data must adhere to certain rules ("principles") and ensure appropriate security. 

You have certain rights regarding the collection and use of your personal data and you can exercise any one or more of these rights by contacting the controller.

If an organisation does not comply with your rights, you can:

• make a complaint to the Commissioner
• seek other remedies from the organisation

The law does not apply if your personal data is being used by an individual only for their domestic purposes.
