Virginia M. Driscoll

Virginia M. (“Ginny”) Driscoll, age 86, passed away on July 6, 2024, at Clearvista Lake Health Campus in Indianapolis. She was born on December 2, 1937, in Evanston, Illinois, to George M. and Veronne (nee Strande) Robey.

She married Leo E. Driscoll on June 8, 1957, in Des Plaines, Illinois. He preceded her in death.

Ginny will be remembered for her sense of humor, her enjoyment of sudoku and word puzzles, her love of animals (particularly dogs), her interest in genealogy, her generosity, and her acceptance of all people for who they were.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; her three brothers, Merlin (the late Constance, nee Polizzi), Harold (Catherine, nee Wille), and Reginald (the late Mary Jo, nee O’Brien) Robey; her two brothers-in-law, James (the late Bernice, nee Wille) and Charles (the late Evelyn, nee Joseph) Driscoll; her sister-in-law, Mary Lou (the late Gianfranco) Strazzera; a niece, Pamela (nee Robey) Rumbergs; and a grand-nephew, Richard Robey, Jr.

She is survived by two sons, David L. Driscoll of Boston and Timothy E. Driscoll of Indianapolis, a daughter, Laura E. (Grant) Vecera of Indianapolis, a sister-in-law, Catherine (the late Harold) Robey of The Villages, Florida, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one great-great-grandchild, sixteen nieces and nephews, and her canine companion, Carl.

A memorial visitation will be held at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue in Indianapolis, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, July 13, 2024. She will be laid to rest at The Gardens at Olive Branch Cemetery and Mausoleum Park in Greenwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Driscoll Family Fellowship in Conservation at the Boston Athenaeum, 10½ Beacon Street, Boston, MA 02108 (www.bostonathenaeum.org) or the Indianapolis Humane Society, 7929 Michigan Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268 (www.indyhumane.org).

Ginny’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to her neighbors in Meridian Woods, who helped her to live independently for as long as possible, and to the staff of Clearvista Lake Health Campus and Paradigm Health, who cared for her in her final days.
