Gloria Jean (Stillions) Ault, 83, of Bloomington passed away peacefully and without pain on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Stonecroft Health Campus.

She was born on October 27, 1940 in Bloomington, Indiana. The daughter of Robert Wendell and Wanda Jean (Hays) Stillions, Gloria was a 1958 graduate of Bloomington High School and attended Indiana University. She married Frederick Keith Ault on January 6, 1963 in Bloomington, Indiana.

With her husband, she co-founded VitaChlor Corporation in Muncie, Indiana (later Signature Brands Group, Beech Grove, Indiana) and ran until her retirement in 2005. Gloria loved mentioning, in passing even, that she was a teenage model. With her copious conversation skills, she excelled as a switchboard operator at Indiana Bell in the early 1960’s

While her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother and great-grand mother, she missed her early calling as a Congressional tobacco smokers advocate and lobbyist. When not planning her next cigarette, she took great joy in Pepsi (Coke in an emergency,) fried chicken, lipstick, heavy eyebrow penciling and as much foundation as she could manage. She was the sort of woman who would wear high heels at a campground and run the dishwasher so her hair would curl. At the end of her life she loved monitoring her garden and getting lost on long country drives in her convertible red Corvette. Gloria cheered for the underdog and celebrated & encouraged women to reach their greatest heights. She will be agonizingly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Gloria is survived by her sons, William Albert (Lynn) Ault of Fort Wayne; Robert Hays Ault of Bloomington; her grandchildren, Thomas Keith (Nellie) Ault; Joseph Dennis Ault; her great granddaughter, Summer Jean Ault; one sister, Robin Stillions of Spencer; one brother Samuel (Kara) Stillions of Bloomington and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Wanda Stillions; her husband, Frederick Keith Ault; her two brothers, Daniel (Augustine) Stillions and Stephen Stillions; and her sister, Rebecca Nickless.

No services are scheduled at this time. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to My Sister’s Closet of Monroe County.

Allen Funeral Home and Crematory have been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences, photos and memories may be shared with family and friends at www.allencares.com
