The cut and thrust of fashion retail is never easy. There has been so much talk about big online businesses closing so it is very nice to be able to acknowledge new stores when they open, and when it is a wholly Irish-owned boutique, then better again.

Mairead Byrne has opened the doors of her New Chapter boutique in Naas, Co Kildare, with an impressive line-up of brands. They include two of my favourite Australian designers, Rachel Gilbert and Rebecca Vallance, but she also stocks another Aussie brand, L’idée, which is exclusive to her in Ireland.
