One of the most frequently commented (and most irritating) phrases on social media is “Who cares?”. You’ll often see it written under a post on X or Instagram, generally one about celebrity news or gossip and commonly when said post evokes strong feelings in women — think an A-list break-up or even a surprising new hook-up.

This kind of snark is ubiquitous, but it’s also redundant because when it comes to celebrity pairings, many really do care — some a little too much. The internet was ablaze in recent weeks as awards season kicked off and we were treated to sightings of some of the most low-key famous couples on the red carpet.
