The South Africans have undoubtedly added a lot to the URC, but the logistical challenge they bring to the knockout end of the tournament continues to be a real issue for participating teams and organisers.
On the pitch, the competition is a far better one for the inclusion of the Lions, Bulls, Stormers and Sharks and, once Leinster get all the way to Pretoria for Saturday’s semi-final against Jake White’s Bulls, it should be exactly the kind of contest the tournament was designed to deliver.
