Munster are hopeful midfielder Alex Nankivell can be available for Saturday’s URC semi-final clash with Glasgow Warriors in Thomond as he is increasing his training load from today.

The gifted Kiwi sustained an ankle injury during the regular season win against Edinburgh last month and a decision on his availability will be made later in the week.

As already slated, Joey Carbery is going for surgery today after sustaining a thumb injury against Ulster. Tom Ahern will see a specialist with a view to surgery on an ankle injury suffered in the same game.

Along with the 23 players who featured against Ospreys at Thomond Park on Friday night, there were 17 senior and academy players in action during the Munster A v Ireland U20s clash at UL.

Brian Gleeson, Evan O’Connell and Ben O’Connor lined out for the Ireland U20s with Gleeson and O’Connor both touching down.
