Spain captain Alvaro Morata sustained a freak injury after their Euro 2024 semi final win over France when he was accidentally taken out by a member of security staff trying to stop a pitch invader.

Morata was celebrating with his team-mates after his side's 2-1 success when attention turned towards a fan encroaching onto the pitch.

A member of security, sprinting to stop the unwanted intruder, lost his balance on the Allianz Arena surface and careered into Morata, who immediately doubled over in pain.

Pitch incursions have been a talking point during Euro 2024 and the Munich encounter was earlier interrupted after a spectator made their way onto the playing surface in an attempt to get a photograph with France star Kylian Mbappe.

Cristiano Ronaldo was approached on three separate occasions during Portugal's victory over Turkey.

There will be fresh focus on the arrangements in the aftermath of the Morata incident - especially if it complicates his preparations for Sunday's decider in Berlin.
