Ireland have called up Connacht's Dave Heffernan and Ulster's Nathan Doak after confirming that Dan Sheehan and Craig Casey will miss the second Test against South Africa.

Sheehan has been ruled out with a suspected anterior cruciate ligament injury, while Casey suffered a concussion in Saturday's 27-20 defeat in Pretoria.

Casey has remained with the team in uMhlanga, while Sheehan is no longer with the travelling party having said his goodbyes on Sunday in Johannesburg.

South Africa tour daily - July 8th

Hooker Heffernan (33) hasn't played for Ireland since coming off the bench in the first Test defeat to New Zealand in 2022, while half-bacl Doak (22) is uncapped but has been in previous squads.

The IRFU have not given an update on Robbie Henshaw, Andrew Porter, James Lowe, Bundee Aki and Jamie Osborne who were all carrying knocks after a bruising first Test.

South Africa have no injury concerns ahead of the Durban rematch.
