McNally enjoys Millstreet success

Michael McNally steered the Irish-bred Eclipto to win the Horse Sport Ireland CCI4*S (short format) at Millstreet International Horse Trials in Cork yesterday.

Lying second on a score of 25.1 after Dressage the 33-year-old dropped to third after showjumping, but when he was the only rider to come home inside the time in the cross-country phase his final tally of 28.3 secured victory. New Zealand’s Jonelle Price, finished second.

In the long-format CCI4*-L, Price’s husband, Tim Price, claimed pole position and Lucy Latta finished best of the Irish in fifth with DHI Broadway.

The CCI3*-L was won Sweden’s Ludwig Svennerstal with Vivero while the HSI CCI2*-L was won by Dutch rider Rachel Rendle with the Irish-bred Ballyvally Bay.

In showjumping yesterday, Eoin Gallagher who was a member of Ireland’s winning Nations Cup team at the Dutch fixture on Friday, clinched third in the 3-Star Grand Prix at Peelbergen.
