The European Athletics Championships in Rome have been the gift that kept on giving over the past week. Pick a favourite moment from the event? How long have you got?

There was Newport’s Sharlene Mawdsley “holding her nerve”, as RTÉ commentator Greg Allen memorably described it, on the home straight of the mixed 4x400m relay last Friday night and the look of shock on her face after she anchored Ireland to historic relay gold. Mawdsley’s style is pure liquid running.
