A new tribute to the late Aslan frontman Christy Dignam has appeared on a traffic control box in Finglas a year since his death.
The popular singer died in June last year aged 63, after a ten-year battle with cancer.
A true son of Finglas, his final journey through the streets he grew up on was an emotional occasion, surrounded by family, friends and the community that held him dear.
Christy’s daughter Kiera Dignam recently shared the image of the new mural on her Instagram.
“New mural in Finglas village, I don’t know who did this but it’s amazing! It’s a week we have been dreading, but so lovely to see this today,” she wrote.

The new artwork, created by Andrew McCarthy, is titled Gotta Make It and is prominently displayed on the Main Street in Finglas.
The piece serves as a heartfelt homage to Dignam’s enduring legacy and his impact on the local community and beyond.
Speaking about the artwork, Mr McCarthy expressed his admiration for the singer.
“This tribute to the late Christy Dignam incorporates lyrics from the song ‘Gotta Make It’ to convey a positive message about the brevity of life,” he said.
“We are here for only a minuscule amount of time, and it is our choice how we use that time. Christy sings this song with such conviction on the Made in Dublin album. It resonates deeply. Rest in peace, Christy.”
