The community of Ballyneety in Limerick is reeling from a horrifying incident in which 23-year-old Nicole Morey lost her life.

Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, emergency services responded to reports of an incident and rushed to the scene, discovering Nicole fatally injured following a dog attack. Tragically, she had been celebrating her birthday earlier that day.

As it emerged that an XL Bully, believed to have been involved in the attack, was shot dead at the scene, the incident reignited the debate about restricted breeds, and whether we should follow the lead of the UK in banning certain breeds outright.

Fionnán Sheahan is joined by Amy Molloy, Public Affairs Correspondent with the Irish Independent and by John Meagher, Journalist with the Irish Independent, to reflect on this tragedy, and to ask – is it time to outlaw the XL Bully?
