Volvo introduced its new electric seven-seater EX90 SUV flagship this week. The Volvo EX90 brings the number of its fully electric cars to four (it joins the EX30, and the renamed EX40 and EX40).

Prices start at €117,910 and it is expected here in the third quarter. Standard safety is higher than any previous Volvo, the brand says.

Inside, there is an “invisible” shield of safety as in-house developed algorithms gauge eye-gaze concentration and allows the system to understand when you’re distracted, drowsy or otherwise inattentive.

A 14.5in centre screen is your gateway to what they claim is one of the best infotainment systems on offer, with Google built in.

It has a claimed range of up to 600km and charges from 10pc to 80pc in around 30 minutes.

First to market is the twin-motor all-wheel drive version, powered by a 111kWh battery and two permanent magnet electric motors delivering 517hp and a massive 910Nm of torque.

It is expected to be a high performer considering the car has a brand-new chassis.
