Opt for a mix of seating choices such as a spacious dining table with cushioned chairs, a lounge area with outdoor sofas, poufs, benches and perhaps even a hammock for a relaxed vibe. Materials such as teak, rattan, and wrought iron are durable and add a touch of elegance.

A well thought-out colour scheme ties your outdoor space together. For summer 2024, consider vibrant yet soothing palettes such as coral and turquoise or go for timeless classics such as navy and white. Use these shades in your cushions, table linens and decorative accessories.

A beautiful tablescape is the heart of any “al fresco” dining experience. Start with a statement tablecloth or runner in your chosen colour scheme. For a sophisticated touch, mix and match patterned plates with solid ones and use elegant glassware. Add a vase of fresh seasonal flowers or greenery for a simple centrepiece.

Add depth to your tablescape using different heights and textures via tall dinner candles, low flower arrangements, and a few scattered tea-light candles.

Lighting can transform your outdoor space as the sun sets. String lights are a classic choice, creating a warm and magical atmosphere.
