He’s best known as the author of Gulliver’s Travels, but back in the early 18th century, Jonathan Swift put his writing skills to good use to vent on Ireland’s housing crisis in words that still ring true today.
A celebrated satirist, between 1724 and 1725, he also took aim at the British government in a series of robust political pamphlets under the pseudonym MB Drapier.
In what became known as The Drapier’s Letters, he successfully campaigned against Britain’s plans to impose a debased currency on Ireland.
Three hundred years later, Swift’s pen name lives on in Drapier Green, part of the Wadelai estate built around a large amenity green next to a similar development named Dean Swift.

As well as an extended front porch, the house also has a rear extension, bringing the floor area up to 1,100 sq ft. Built in the mid-1950s, it was recently renovated and upgraded with insulation, double-glazed windows and contemporary kitchen and bathroom fittings installed.
At ground level there’s a living room, kitchen/dining room, sunroom and guest WC. Upstairs are three bedrooms (two double, one single) and a shower room.
Located 5km from the city centre, it’s within walking distance of DCU and close to schools including Educate Together Glasnevin, Scoil Mobhí, St Aidan’s CBS and Scoil Chaitríona. Dublin Airport is a 10-minute drive away.
