Oats don’t have to be served as piping-hot porridge. Soaking oats overnight makes them delectably sweet and creamy. Prepping this breakfast is an easy habit to acquire, sparing those brain cells first thing in the morning. It’s a cinchy way to nosebag some gut-healthy fibre too.

Metabolic expert Dr Casey Means advises we shoot for 50-75g of fibre a day. The average daily consumption here in Ireland? A puny 10g. Given that colon cancer is one of the five most common cancers on this island, it’s probably time to make friends with a fibre-fuelled breakfast regime.
