Myles Dungan: ‘You had to be light and witty on air. And I just wasn’t’

The broadcaster talks about struggling to fit in at RTÉ, becoming a dad for the fifth time at age 58, and why he loves history

Myles Dungan was only days into his degree in English and History at UCD when he began wondering if he would be able to stick it out.

“I was very, very shy, absolutely no confidence at all – and I was just overwhelmed. I thought: ‘What is this place? I’m not going to survive here.’”
