Transport Minister Eamon Ryan is sticking with his aim of having 30pc of Ireland’s privately owned cars electric by 2030, despite the heavy drop in sales this year.

A recent AA Ireland survey of more than 1,000 of its customers found that only 10pc of them plan to go fully electric with their next car, while half of them did not agree that electric vehicles (EVs) are better for the environment.
