In a few weeks’ time, the country goes to the polls in a national election for the first time in nearly four-and-a-half years. From the general election on February 8, 2020 to local and European elections this June 7 feels like a long time.
During the Celtic Tiger era and the crash, we got used to the locals dropping halfway through the Dáil term and the concept of mid-term elections testing the pulse of the nation. But the political diary has gone askew now, with the local and European elections and general election coming thick and fast.
