Well-known businessman and racehorse owner Conor Clarkson had the motive and the opportunity to arrange for the forgery of signatures on documents required for the completion of the €1.6m sale of development land he owned, his trial has heard.

Closing the prosecution’s case after a six-day trial, Patrick Gageby SC said: “We cannot say Mr Clarkson himself wrote the false signatures. But at a minimum we can suggest Mr Clarkson knew the signatures were forged.”
