The recent good growing conditions have helped many of the later-drilled crops to catch up, and they seem to have more potential in them than we thought a few weeks ago.
April-drilled spring barley, for example, will probably have the flag emerging in the coming week or so, whereas March-drilled barley is only a week ahead as the awns start peeping over the bank holiday weekend.
